Physics degree from the Balseiro Institute, PhD from the National University of La Plata and post-doctorates at the USC, Harvard and the Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon). Author of more than 75 scientific articles. His paper ‘Causality constraints on corrections to the graviton three-point coupling’, co-authored with Juan Maldacena, Xián Camanho and Sasha Zhiboedov, is among the most cited papers in the field in the last decade. He coauthored the books ‘Antimateria, magia y poesía’ (with Andrés Gomberoff; National Prize for University Publishing in Spain 2015), ‘Cuerdas y supercuerdas’ (with Gastón Giribet; translated into French and Italian) and ‘Einstein para perplejos’ (with Andrés Gomberoff, Prismas Prize 2019; translated into Italian). His work was awarded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology in 2012 and by the Argentinean government (Raíces Prize 2018). Regular participant in the podcast Coffee Break Señal y Ruido (iVoox award in science popularisation 2022 and 2023). In 2021, together with Javier Santaolalla and Jorge Pérez Melián, he created the scientific content platform Amautas (Prismas Award 2023 and GESAwards in Spain and Portugal 2024).[/modal_popup_box]

Currently, chief of department at Puerta de Hierro University Hospital, Madrid (Spain) with active involvement in the lung trasplant program of the unit. Part-time profesor at the University of Salamanca accredited in 2018. Active member of the ESTS since 2005 with former possitions as Head of Patient Centered Working Group, member of the board until 2021 when I became Director of Education of the Society to become President of the society in June 2024. Involved in research with more than 150 papers published. Metrics according to coreWOS: H-index: 22 (2313 citations on 2087 articles). Member of the editorial board of Archivos de Bronconeumología, with 175 verified peer-reviews in specialty journals. Spanish representative at the Thoracic Surgery Section within the UEMS and president of the board.[/modal_popup_box]

As a young professor of design in the mid 1970s, he developed several 3D constructions, among them the Rubik’s Cube.
Patented 50 years ago, in 1975, Rubik’s Cube made its international debut at the New York Toy Fair in 1980 to quickly become a global phenomenon as the best-selling toy in history.
In addition to the Cube, Mr Rubik patented several successful toys and design pieces including the Magic Snake and Rubik’s Magic.
His book “Cubed – The Puzzle of Us All” was published simultaneously in several countries around the world. [/modal_popup_box]
